The Outreach teams hold Open Days events in public spaces such as taxi ranks and shopping centres. These Open Days highlight HIV and AIDS and related issues within the public arena, taking messaging beyond the health facility or training settings.
The Outreach team promotes access to health services such as HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT), PMTCT programmes, treatment programmes and medical male circumcision. . The Open Days are fun, interactive events with dramas, dance groups and other entertainment provided. Male and female condoms are distributed, as well as printed information pamphlets on HIV, ARVs, PMTCT, TB and STIs and people can access HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT) services on site.
