Clinics

The Siyayinqoba Outreach Research Project is underway! The Outreach team of Community Care Workers (CCWs) currently work in public hospitals and clinics in the Motheo district in the Free State, conducting education sessions for patients waiting to see nurses and doctors.

Education sessions focus on information about Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) and the CCWs work closely with pregnant mothers to ensure they access all aspects of the PMTCT programme, while also providing information on PMTCT to the broader community. The CCWs provide information on HIV Counselling and Testing (HCT), strategies for HIV prevention, antiretroviral therapy including adherence, TB and HIV, treatment of opportunistic infections, early treatment of other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and positive living and encourage access to and uptake of health services.
