CMT is committed to training young people interested in media and activism to be functional and reliable journalists, researchers and camera people. As a result, CMT is assisting the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) in training 15 Community Journalists (CJs) to enable them to work at various community television stations around the country – these include Soweto TV, C-TV, Tshwane TV, Bay TV and Eastern Cape TV. CMT has gained valuable experience in this type of training through developing Community Journalists for our television show Siyayinqoba Beat It! over the past three years.
The Outreach Programme also provides training for external organisations and lay health workers on all aspects of HIV and AIDS. We currently employ 16 dedicated trainers who trained 2,456 individuals in 2009. We are in the process of having our training accredited with the Health and Welfare SETA.
